In the recent past  2202] there has been an Archaeological excavation  to try and discover the missing wing of the hall , although inconclusive  the dig was able to locate some footings of more recent buildings and produced some interesting finds notably a small gold pendant with and intaglio seal which had been used to emboss the wax on a historic  parchment  deed.  A Penarth bottle seal inscribed for Love Parry, a Clay pipe and a Small Pearl stopper.
